Oncology is a medical focus of the Marien Hospital Düsseldorf. The breast and colon cancer centres are certified by the German Cancer Society. The departments work on an interdisciplinary basis and meet every week for a tumour conference. Alongside autologous stem cell transplants, all illnesses of the haematopoietic system are treated at a high level. The clinic has its own special laboratory for haematological examinations. Furthermore, almost all solid tumours such as lung, stomach, colon, liver, breast or prostate carcinomas are treated on both an in-patient and an outpatient basis. The Marien Hospital is registered for all out-patient oncological specialist medical treatments. Abdominal surgery is another of the Marien Hospital’s focuses: the clinic’s range of services includes the entirety of abdominal surgery with a focus on the fields of oncological and minimally invasive surgery, hernia surgery and coloproctology. For the treatment of stomach, intestinal and liver cancer, as well as pancreatic cancer, operative metastasis therapy and complex hernia operations, state-of-the-art minimally invasive procedures are used, including the DaVinci X® Surgical System – one of the latest systems for robotically assisted surgeries, which is used within the ZIRO | Zentrum für Interdisciplinäre Robotische Operationen [Centre of Interdisciplinary Robotic Operations]. The hernia centre is the only certified reference centre in North Rhine-Westphalia for abdominal wall hernias. Also for minimally invasive surgery.

The focus of medical treatment at the Augusta Hospital is the entire spectrum of cardiovascular diseases. In the modern surgical centre, operations are carried out in four operating theatres according to the latest standards of medical sciences. This includes vascular and abdominal surgery as well as aneurysm operations of abdominal aorta and other large blood vessels with minimally invasive operating procedures, stent implantations and combined interventions. Furthermore, cardiological patients with life-threatening coronary vessel obstructions are treated at three state-of-the-art left cardiac catheter measuring stations. An in-house pacemaker out-patient clinic and Herzhose treatment, which is only offered at a few hospitals in Germany, complete the range of services. Another focus is on thorax surgery with an inhouse thorax centre, where specialists from, among others, the Clinic of General, Thorax, Abdominal and Endocrine Surgery and other colleagues specialise in the interdisciplinary treatment of diseases of the lungs, chest wall, pleural cavity, diaphragm and mediastinum, for example. There is also a thyroid centre and a wound care centre. Experts from the field of internal medicine also work here and cover the entire spectrum of diagnostics of the digestive tract. This combination means that diagnoses and treatments of, among other areas, all diseases of the human heart, the arterial and venous system, the digestive tract and the field of glands can be provided.

The medical focus of the St. Vinzenz Hospital is the entire spectrum of musculoskeletal medicine as well as internal medicine. By choosing to concentrate on specific issues, the Orthopaedics Clinic of the St. Vinzenz Hospital has become a specialist centre of musculoskeletal medicine (including new, robot-supported operating techniques). Alongside endoprosthetics of hip and knee joints, foot surgery has additionally been implemented. The second major focus of the hospital is the Spinal and Pain Clinic and its associated Centre of Pain Medicine. With conservative pain management, it perfectly supplements other services. The St. Vinzenz Hospital is one of the only hospitals in the Dusseldorf region which offers an Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The Clinic of Sports Orthopaedics supplements the spectrum with endoscopic procedures in the areas of shoulder, elbow and knee joints. Coverage of endoprosthetic procedures of the upper extremities is also an integral part of routine activities. Another important focus of sports orthopaedics is the wide range of axial correction osteotomies of the lower extremities. The St. Vinzenz Hospital also includes a Clinic of Diagnostic Radiology with modern equipment as well as the Clinic of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care.
